These terms govern your use of this website. They are not the terms of an engagement with us. Client work is governed by a separate written agreement — a statement of work, a master services agreement, or both — and where anything there conflicts with this page, that agreement takes precedence for the work it covers.
By using this site you accept these terms. We may change them; the version on this page when you visit is the one that applies, and the date at the top tells you when it last moved.
You may read, print and share these pages for your own reference or to point someone at our work. You may not:
republish substantial parts of the site as your own material
use the site or anything on it to train a machine learning model without our written permission
try to reach any part of the site, server or system you are not authorised to reach
introduce anything malicious, or interfere with how the site runs
scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for anyone else
Unless stated otherwise, everything here — text, layout, design, code, photography, film, the YF name and mark — belongs to us or is used with permission. Nothing on this site transfers any of it to you.
Client names, logos and project work appear as a record of work we have done. Those marks belong to their owners. Their presence here is not an endorsement of us by them, or of them by us.
If you write to us through the form on this site or by email, we use what you send to reply. Please do not send anything confidential in a first approach — treat an unsolicited enquiry as non-confidential until we have agreed otherwise in writing — and do not send anything you do not have the right to share.
Sending us an enquiry does not by itself create a working relationship between us. That starts when we both sign something.
We link out — to our newsletter on Substack, to our profiles on social platforms, sometimes to a client. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for their content, their terms, or what they do with your data.
We work to keep this site accurate and available, but we do not promise either. What is written here is general information about what we do, not advice to act on without talking to us or to a suitable professional. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it at any time.
Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, data or goodwill, or for any indirect or consequential loss, arising from your use of this site.
This clause is about the website. Our liability for client work is dealt with in the agreement covering that work.
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute arising from them, or from your use of this site, falls to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court.
