Case study
TDK 90th Anniversary
Visual governance that keeps 90 years of TDK coherent everywhere.
Overview
The brief
We partnered with TDK to build the design infrastructure for its 90th Anniversary—treating the milestone as a systems problem, not a single campaign deliverable. The engagement focused on defining how the anniversary mark coexists with the core TDK brand, then translating that logic into key visuals, guidelines, and a production-ready asset library. The output is a modular framework intended to hold under scale across internal presentations and public communications, enabling consistent execution by distributed teams without relying on ad-hoc design decisions.

The work
01 / Challenge
TDK needed a 90th Anniversary identity and communications system that could translate heritage and “Venture Spirit” into a consistent, modern visual language—without collapsing into a one-off logo treatment. The work had to be governance-led: clear rules, scalable assets, and internal usability across formats. Success meant a modular infrastructure that teams could deploy confidently across channels while preventing brand drift.
02 / Transformation
Shifted the anniversary from a one-off design request to an operational identity system: clear interaction rules, tested key visuals, and documentation that transfers capability to internal teams.
03 / Impact
Created a scalable anniversary design system that improves consistency and speed of execution across teams and formats. The governance-first approach reduces reliance on vendor-by-vendor interpretation, helping maintain brand integrity through extended rollout.
What we made
Deliverables
90th Anniversary mark + interaction rules with the primary TDK logo (color parameters, spatial hierarchies, scaling logic); Foundational key visuals defining the anniversary visual language; Governance documentation (typography, layout logic, application rules) to prevent brand drift; Production-ready asset library (vector + high-resolution formats) structured for deployment across print and digital; Asset architecture for internal and external use cases (presentations, digital workspaces, public channels)
